The Supper Club

At the Townhouse, the ever-changing ‘Carte Blanche’ multi-course seasonal dinner sets the pace of conversations. Supper Club fulfills curiosity about ancestral gastronomic practices in Portugal and the wider world, with a thorough examination of traditional recipes informed by the de Sousa siblings’ upbringing and travels, brought into a modern framework and adapted for a home kitchen. The photography is a complement to the artistry on the plate and an exploration of togetherness and socialisation around a uniting food theme.
Often, the best meals take place at ‘home’ and not at a restaurant. When Patricia and Emanuel de Sousa, the siblings behind the Townhouse Kitchen started the supper clubs at the Townhouse, back in 2012, they had this concept in mind. By uniting their own memories around the table with family, friends, and strangers from around the world, they became the latest chapter in the history of supper clubs, originating in London in 1937. Recipes inspire readers to make use of common ingredients and leftover dishes to create new, delightful modern menus appropriate for various diets. The book is split between Mountain and Sea produce with beautiful accompanying photography.
